What we keep, and what we don't

Short version: we never store the text you send, and we only know who you are if you sign in to get a key.

Text you rewrite

Input and output pass through our servers and the model provider and are not stored by us. We log the shape of each call: word counts, latency, which voice, model and prompt version, and the key id if a key was used. Model providers process the text under their own API terms; the Anthropic API does not train on API inputs.

The demo

The homepage demo is limited to three rewrites a day per network address. We store a salted hash of the address and a counter for the day, nothing else.

Accounts and keys

Signing in with Google gives us your Google account id, email and name. We use them to show you your keys. Keys are stored only as a keyed hash; we cannot recover a key for you. Sessions are a cookie that expires after 30 days or when you sign out.

The waitlist

If you request a voice, we keep the email and the writer you named, and we write once when that voice ships.

The X bot

When tagged, the bot reads the public tweet you replied to, rewrites it and posts the result. We keep the tweet ids involved so we reply once per mention, not the text.

Contact

Questions: reply to the bot on X. A contact address will appear here once betterwriting.ai has a mailbox.
